A plan to attend a local Cars and Coffee was eschewed in favor of watching the 919 Evo fly around the track, and so the Sottiles and I were at the track by 8:30 a.m. Nestled into a particularly tight corner, we watched the 935s come screaming past at close proximity in their various liveries: Coke, Interscope and Hawaiian Tropic being just some of the cars that boosted through the corner. Scrabbling for grip as the turbos spooled up, these cars were not for the faint of heart and it quickly became apparent how ballsy these men were, piloting cars from a time when cigarettes and cocaine were considered an integral part of a regular breakfast.

Rennsport Reunion VI – Part 1.

Rennsport Reunion was undoubtedly one of the best weekends I’ve ever had. We’ve divided it into a two-part feature in order to do it justice. Start reading now! 

I don’t know where to begin.

It’s two days after Rennsport Reunion VI ended, and my brain is still struggling to readjust to daily life. Four days of automobile extravaganza from the boys in Stuttgart will do that to anyone, and try as I may, every single superlative that I use to describe my time at the Laguna Seca circuit in Monterey over the past weekend, ends up falling painfully short. Regardless I will soldier on, in the interest of you, our dear readers.

The Gulf 12 Hours – Satisfying the motorsport urge.

We make the drive down to Yas Marina in Abu Dhabi, to take in a good day of motorsport. 

It’s been months since we’ve been to any motorsport event, with our last outing to Road America for the SVRA Racing weekend in May.

However, there is something incredibly infectious about the sound of high performance engines and hard downshifts, accompanied by the sight of colorful liveries and dollops of carbonfibre, being piloted at breakneck speeds by very brave human beings. The net result: I was itching for a dose of motorsport. The category did not matter, all I wanted to see was a race.

GP Extreme – A modern motorsport shrine.

We visit GP Extreme’s showroom in Dubai, only to find a temple for motorsport. 

You may remember GP Extreme from our experience at the Dubai 24 Hours. The GP Extreme team ran two Renault works cars, placing 2nd in the ‘Am’ class, an achievement for a relatively young team and a new car.

I had mentioned in my ‘Introduction to Wisconsin’ that the state benefits from a healthy ‘Euro’ scene. BMWs, Benzes, Audis and Porsches are equally loved when compared with the average muscle car. With the trees shedding leaves and the temperature dropping, most folk decide to tuck their prized automobiles away for the winter around this time. Unfortunately that translates into a scarcity of meets and other car-related activity.

The Ferrari 330 P4 – A design icon built to race.

 Two weeks back, I spent a couple of hours with a Ferrari 330 P4. I’m still losing sleep over her.

Beauty means different things to all of us. For some of us, a new-born baby is beautiful. For others, it’s scenery and for petrolheads, it’s a well-designed car. Standards of beauty change from time to time. Yet, there are some things, which defy trends to remain beautiful, in everyone’s eyes. They are considered truly timeless.
