Walk through the doors at District 31 and it looks like most detailing shops, barring a few exceptions. A smallish space in Dubai’s industrial district – Al Quoz – filled with cars that have come in to have their shining bodies revitalised. So why is it then, that cars that leave these doors routinely go on to win ‘Best of Show’ awards at Classic Car Concours and owners bring their million-dollar plus cars here, disregarding every other shop in the city?

Dubai. Tourist hub, financial centre, skyscraper central and one of the great metropolises of the world. Any tourist brochure or website will tell you precisely that and more. However, those who try and dig past the glitzy image are presented with a surprising amount of culture and heritage, most of which stems from Dubai’s history as a trading port on the coast of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
