Los Angeles. Lalaland. Hollywood. The City of Angels. Southland.
Whichever name you use, the city of Los Angeles is like no other. Good weather all year round, beaches, hills, a certain mentality and the presence of celebrities. I don’t believe there is any other city that you can find all this in, except maybe Monaco, which is frightfully expensive.
For a petrolhead however, LA is paradise. Combine the good weather with an abundance of curvy roads and a thriving automotive community and you get car culture like little else. Whatever flavour you’re looking for, you’ll find it here.
Tuned Euro sportscars? 1950s land yachts? German factory racecars? JDM underground cars? Original G-Wagens with camo paint? 1960s motorcycles? It’s all here.
Then, there are the people. School kids rub shoulders with grizzled veterans who rebuild and restore cars singlehandedly. Workshops turn out builds whose impact is felt around the world and subsequently copied until they’ve turned into a movement by themselves.
The best part is, people actually drive their cars here. Grocery runs, school runs, a pleasure cruise through the mountains; people don’t need a reason to drive special metal. They just do.
A four-day trip in April was a worthy introduction to Los Angeles car culture. Now we’re back to get the full tour.
That’s right, the Nocturnal Bandit is now based out of Los Angeles, California.
Like we’ve done before, we’ll do our utmost to give you an accurate look at Los Angeles’ incredibly diverse motoring scene. We’ll be attending car events and shows, speaking to the movers and shakers within the community(hopefully!) and drinking a whole lot of coffee while looking at cars.
So if you’ve got something cool that you think would be good for us to share, please get in touch with us. Most importantly, stay tuned!
